THETA THETA LAMBDA CHAPTER
The Founding Of
Theta Theta Lambda
The seventh international chapter and the second in Europe, following Beta Psi of London, UK in 1938 was Theta Theta Lambda Chapter, Key #285.

The movement of American service members throughout Europe would lead to the establishment of this chapter in Frankfurt, Germany on February 15, 1963 by 14 Department of Defense personnel either as active duty military personnel, civilian employees or teachers in the Department of Defense Dependent School System. The chapter establishment is mentioned in the history book as “Beta Theta Lambda Chapter established in the area of Frankfurt, Germany… The first of their local events was held on October 13, 1962 at the University of Frankfurt Student House. Brothers and wives were present at the cocktail party and reception.” The chapter establishment is also detailed in the Summer 1963 edition of the Sphinx magazine.
The fourteen charter members were: James M. Ararett, Jr., Harold S. Burnside, Roscoe C. Cartwright, Leonce Gaither, Paul Lawrence Harper, Leo A. Morton, Wallace W. Price, William J. Stephens, Cloyd O. Trouth, James E. Williams, McClain A. Garrett, Jr., James A. Johnson, Lovie M. Pearson and Remus Rhodes. These founding members were men serving in various capacities with the Department of Defense, either as active duty military personnel, civilian employees or teachers in the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) school system formerly known as the Department of Dependent School System (DoDDS).

The majority of active brothers/members were historically organized in clusters in the following communities in Germany: Bad Kreuznach, Frankfurt/Rhein-Main, Hanau, Heidelberg/Mannheim, Kaiserslautern/Ramstein, Wiesbaden/Mainz, Munich, Stuttgart, and Wuerzburg. Additionally, there were Alpha representations at locations such as: Lakenheath/Mindenhall, England; Izmir and Ankara, Turkey; Bulgaria, Torrejon, Spain; Vicenza and Livornia, Italy and Camp New Amsterdam, Holland. Several brothers/members serving their country while residing in Belgium and Switzerland were affiliated through associate membership with Theta Theta Lambda Chapter.
Currently, our international chapter is comprised of military personnel, educators, administrators, lawyers, politicians, clergymen, bankers, etc. We will continue to advance the mission and aims of our dear fraternity throughout the European continent and the legacy of our chapter founders.
